Final Topic/Outline

Topic: The Monopolization of the Mass Media

Outline:

  • Introduction:
    • In the United States there are six major corporations that control all the information we receive including news, television, movies, print, radio, and the internet.  The monopolization of the media shapes the way we view the world around us by limiting diversity in views on a given topic.  Who manages the media, the history of regulation and deregulation, and the impact of  consolidation are all important features of the mainstream media.  In contrast, some believe monopolization is not a significant issue our society faces.
